All About Me

Kids always want to know things about their teachers--I know I did!  For starters, I am a graduate of Murray State University several times.  I received my BS in elementary education in 2003, my Masters in Reading and Writing in 2008, and my Rank I in Library Media in 2009.  I am one of those people that love school and am not happy unless I am learning something!  I am also a 2006 participant in the Kentucky Reading Project and a 2010 participant of the Purchase Area Writing Project.  Both programs were very exciting and I love incorporating ideas from them in my class.

For 7 years, I taught 4th and 5th grade at Mayfield Elementary.  However, I always wanted to be closer to my home and family.  I got the opportunity to join the North family in 2011 and haven't looked back!  After spending 2 years in fifth grade, I made the move to 2nd and I couldn't be happier!  I love this age and the content.  I love sharing my passion for reading with growing readers!

Outside of school, I am married to my high school sweetheart, Garrett.  We have two daughters, Campbell, who is in second grade, and Cooper, who is soon to be 3.  The girls are involved in drama and dance, so that keeps us pretty busy.  I also run half marathons and participate in CrossFit.
